The DP World Spain Sail Grand Prix | Andalucía – Cádiz takes place this weekend, the penultimate event on the calendar before the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Sail Grand Prix 2025 Season Grand Final presented by Abu Dhabi Sports Council rounds off proceedings for the season in the last week of November.

For an update on the current standings, a brief explanation of how the Abu Dhabi event works and the latest betting odds on the 2025 season winner market, check out our Thursday recap of the Rolex SailGP Championship.

But right now, we’re about to give you the latest odds, stats, and lowdown on who can win this weekend in the Spanish sun.

10 Events, 7 Different Winners

Lots of different sports like to lay claim to being highly unpredictable and volatile in their nature.

But when it comes to the SailGP Championship, the proof is in the pudding.

10 events this season have produced seven different winners, who in chronological order, were: the Black Foils SailGP Team, the BONDS Flying Roos SailGP Team, the Emirates Great Britain SailGP Team, the NorthStar SailGP Team, the Los Gallos SailGP Team, the France SailGP Team and the Germany SailGP Team Presented by Deutsche Bank.

That means that only five teams are yet to register an event win this season.

Just three teams have won an event twice – the Black Foils, Emirates GBR and Los Gallos – with the latter having the honor of being the only team to have won back-to-back events when victorious at the Oracle San Francisco Sail Grand Prix in March, only to go on and also win the next event at the Mubadala New York Sail Grand Prix, in early June.

For the record, the Enel Rio Sail Grand Prix in Rio de Janeiro, which was meant to take place between the two US-based events, was canceled to make time for essential repairs after the organizers discovered a defect in some wingsails across the F50 fleet.

But that’s not to take anything away from Los Gallos’ achievement, and that stat of them being the only winners of consecutive events, still stands.

Why Is SailGP So Unpredictable?

There are good reasons behind SailGP’s unpredictable nature, which go a long way towards explaining why we’ve seen seven different event winners so far this season.

Firstly, all 12 teams use identical hydrofoiling F50 catamarans, the very definition of a level playing field.

Secondly, SailGP boasts some of the finest athletes ever to step foot on a boat across the different teams, so it’s not surprising that anyone can beat anyone on their day.

And thirdly, the ever-variable conditions can have a huge effect on proceedings, not just in terms of the event as a whole, but also on a race-by-race basis. In some cases, these conditions will play into the hands of a particular team; at other times, catching a gust of wind at a crucial time in the race can make all the difference.

What Happened the Last Time We Were in Andalucía – Cádiz?

Back in October 2023, this race was the fifth on the Season 4 calendar, which ended up being won by the United States SailGP Team.

The Americans didn’t win any of the fleet races, but a series of consistent performances saw them make the final, and they saved the best for last, battling back from a pre-start penalty to execute a beautifully clinical race, beating runners-up the ROCKWOOL Racing SailGP Team, with the BONDS Flying Roos finishing third. “It’s just one mistake and the race is over,” said Australian driver Tom Slingsby in the aftermath of the race.

Aussies And Kiwis Lead the Betting

Slingsby won’t have to wait much longer to try to make amends for missing out on that event win last season here in southern Spain.

And the Bet365 odds suggest he’ll have every chance to do just that. His BONDS Flying Roos team is the 4.0 joint-favourite to win the event this weekend, the same price as the Black Foils.

Then comes the Emirates GBR Team at 4.33, followed by Los Gallos at 7.0.

But if you’re thinking of backing either of those two, or both of them, you’d be well-advised to take advantage of the Bet Boosts on offer. Bet365 has increased the price on the Spanish to 8.0, while you can get 4.75 on the Brits, which is a significant increase in their regular prices.

But as we know, you can’t rule out anyone in SailGP. Les Bleus at 10.0,  the NorthStar SailGP Team at 17.0, and the Switzerland SailGP Team at 21.0, fresh from an excellent third-place finish last time out at home in Geneva, are all very capable of winning this week’s event.
